The Carl Parker Multipurpose Center

The Carl Parker Multipurpose Center

The Seahawks basketball team practices and plays home games in the $5.1 million Carl A. Parker Multipurpose Center.

The 47,000-square-foot building, which opened in January 2004, houses two classrooms, a fitness center, a dance studio, faculty offices, a multi-purpose gymnasium and a reception center. The gymnasium can seat 1,400 people for basketball and volleyball.

The building was named in honor of former State Senator Carl Parker, a Port Arthur native who has a long-standing connection with the college.

Who is Carl Parker?

Senator Carl Parker Carl Parker is a true Texas success story -- through hard work and a solid vision, he has earned an unsurpassed reputation as an attorney and a public servant in the Lone Star State.

As senior partner in the Parker Law Firm --and as a former state senator from Jefferson County who for the past several years has continued his interest in good policy making as a Texas lobbyist -- Senator Parker built his career by putting his expertise and experience to work serving the public interest.

Parker graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1958 and has practiced law for more than fifty years.  He is the managing attorney of The Parker Law Firm, which is headquartered in his hometown of Port Arthur and also has an office in Austin near the Texas Capitol.  Parker was elected to the Texas House of Representatives (1962-1972) and to the Texas Senate (1972-1994), becoming an icon of Texas politics.

It was through his generous support that LSC-PA’s multipurpose center came to fruition in 2004.
