Seahawks fall to Howard College, 82-59, despite Thomas' big showing

Chris Thomas picked up his second double-figure scoring game for Lamar State College Port Arthur on Saturday but it wasn't enough to push the Seahawks to a win as LSCPA fell 82-59 to Howard College in the first day of the Texas East-West Invitation at Lewisville High School.

Thomas, a freshman forward from North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana, scored 14 points with rebounds in the Seahawks' season opener Thursday night.

Against Howard College, Nathan Bailey, a sophomore transfer from LSU-Alexandria added 15 points for the Seahawks. Terrance Minor and Thailan Wesley, both freshman guards, added six points each for the Hawks.

LSCPA returns to action Sunday morning with tournament action against Clarendon College at 10 a.m. The Seahawks travel Tuesday night to Eunice, Louisiana where they face LSU-E in non-conference action before returning home Saturday, November 10, against the Houston Gladiators. That game tips off at 3 p.m. in the Carl Parker Center on the campus of Lamar State College Port Arthur.
