Lamar State College Port Arthur utilized an explosive defense coupled with a stifling defense to smother Lone Star College-Tomball on Saturday afternoon, 98-49, at the Carl Parker Center in Port Arthur.

This is the final non-conference game of the season for the Seahawks who enter the second half of their NJCAA Region 14 South Zone run this Wednesday. Standing at 15-9 overall, the Hawks take their 5-6 league mark into a game against Lee College of Baytown at the Carl Parker Center. That game tips off at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, it was all LSCPA from the start as five Seahawks recorded double-figure scoring totals, including a double-double performance by Nathan Bailey. The sophomore forward from New Orleans knocked down 16 points with 10 rebounds in the win for the Hawks.

The game-high scorer was freshman guard Jamyus Jones with 19, while Chris Thomas came off the bench to score 18 points with seven rebounds for LSCPA. Colin Just, a sophomore forward from Magnolia, scored 16 points, while Port Arthur Memorial HS product Darion Chatman added 12 points with five assists for the Seahawks.
