PENSACOLA, Florida - It appeared that the mighty would fall when Lamar State College Port Arthur took a 16-point lead over No. 18-ranked Northwest Florida in the final day of the Pensacola Thanksgiving Classic. Then the Raiders went on an extended second-half run to clinch a 70-63 non-conference victory.

The Seahawks led 37-28 at the half and extended that lead to 16 points early in the second half. The Raiders responded by outscoring the Seahawks 42-26 over the final 20 minutes to claim the win.

Seahawks freshman guard Kanntrell Burney finished as the only LSCPA player in double figures, scoring 16 points to go with four steals and three rebounds. Sophomore Devaughn Thomas scored nine points with seven rebounds, while Terrance Minor came off the bench to score nine points with three rebounds for the Seahawks.

LSCPA returns to NJCAA Region 14 play this Wednesday with a road game against Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City, Louisiana. That game tips off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live with video on CooperSports.net. Pregame starts at 6:30 p.m.
