The Seahawks will try again Saturday for their first win of the Region 14 season after coming up on the wrong end of a 76-65 decision in Bossier City, Louisiana, on Wednesday night.

Bossier Parish Community College got 28 points from sophomore guard E.J. Clark and improved to 2-0 in league play, 5-2, overall as strong efforts by Seahawks sophs Devaughn Thomas and Darion Chatman weren't enough.

Thomas, the team's leading scorer for the season, came up with 15 points and Chatman came off the bench to score all 13 of his points in the second half.

Seahawk freshman Kanntrell Burney scored 10 points while sophomores Jamyus Jones and Darrell Jones scored eight and six points, respectively.

"It was a tough game," LSCPA Coach Lance Madison said. "We didn't play like we're capable of playing. We didn't play very good team basketball."

Now the Seahawks, who are 4-7 overall and 0-2 in Region 14 games, have to prepare for Saturday's 4 p.m. home game against No. 17-nationally ranked Panola in the midst of final exams.

"It's going to be a good one," he said of the Dec. 7 matchup at the Parker Center in downtown PA. "Hopefully, we can bounce back. Our guys are going to need some good time management with finals coming up."

After a slow start by both teams that found the game tied 9-9 midway through the first half, the Cavaliers pulled out to as much as an eight-point, 30-22, lead in the final two minutes of the opening period.

The Hawks got 3-pointers by Thomas and Kanntrell Burney to close to three points, 33-30, at intermission.

Clark scored 15 second-half points and the Cavs held a 10-point lead, 49-39, seven minutes into the second half. That's when Chatman cranked up for 10 straight Seahawk points in a 3-minute run.

But the Cavs wouldn't be denied. Chatman's scores still left the Hawks down by seven points, 56-49, with 8:58 left.

Burney's 3-pointer cut the BPCC lead to four, 58-54, with 6:19 to go, but the home team's lead grew to double digits three minutes later.
