Season-opener sees Hawks fly away with 94-80 victory

Four Seahawks scored in double-figures as Lamar State College Port Arthur opened its 2021-22 men's basketball campaign with a 94-80 non-conference win over Strength N Motion at the Carl Parker Center on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Returning sophomore and NJCAA Region 14 first team all-conference player Kanntrell Burney led the Seahawks with 19 points, hitting a 3-point trifecta, while sophomore transfer Kharee McDaniel added 17 points. Sophomore Daniel Braster put in 12 points, while 6-9 big man Myron Washington Jr. scored 10 points in the paint for the Hawks.

The Seahawks return to action when they host the Texas-Louisiana Challenge on Friday, Nov. 5, and Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Parker Center. LSCPA faces Champions Christian College at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5, then return on Nov. 6 for a 2 p.m. game against LSU-Eunice. The other game on Friday has Blinn College facing LSU-E at 5 while the Buccaneers take on Champions College at noon on Saturday.
