With a completely new roster of faces, no one quite knew what to expect from the 2022-23 version of the Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks men's basketball team. After a 110-69 season-opening win, little doubt is left as to what the Hawks have in mind for the upcoming campaign. LSCPA walked away with the non-conference win over the Community Athletics program at the Carl Parker Center on Wednesday, November 2, led by Tvon Jones' 19 points.

"This is a great start for us," said Seahawks head coach Lance Madison. "There are always questions you can't answer about yourself until you see it all in action. Tonight, we came out and worked together and won a good game."

The Hawks indeed spread the ball around, collecting 20 assists, led by Rashawn Ford Jr.'s seven, as seven different players scored in double-figures. Ford came away with a double-double performance with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Simeon Richardson-Collins added 11 points with eight boards.

Jordan Henderson, a sophomore from Katy, Texas, hit for 17 points with six rebounds. Cameron Jones and Avontez Ledet each had 11 points, while Deuce Guidry added 10.

The Seahawks return to action when they take on North American University on Friday, November 4, with a 6 p.m. tipoff at the Parker Center.
