
When the 2024-25 version of the Seahawks makes a statement, they do it so everyone hears. Lamar State College Port Arthur claimed a road victory against perennial NJCAA Region 14 power Blinn College, taking a decisive 82-76 decision in Brenham on Wednesday, December 11.
The Seahawks improved to 1-2 in conference play and 4-7 overall while the Buccaneers dropped to 1-2 and 5-6.
Zion Young, a 6-foot-4 freshman guard from Wichita, Kansas, dominated from the perimeter, leading the Hawks with 22 points, 12 coming from beyond the 3-point line. Reeve Harvell-Peel, a 6-5 sophomore forward from College Station, Texas added 15 points for the Hawks, while teammate Ke'Andre Jones chipped in 12 points in the victory. Isaiah Brooks as the man on the boards, collecting nine rebounds and fellow Seahawk Martins Adonry pulled down seven boards.
The Seahawks return to play on Saturday, December 14, at the Carl Parker Center, taking on Tyler Junior College in the final game before the winter break. That game tips at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live at the Seahawks athletics website.
