Sophomore guard Evan Palmquist scored 18 points, hitting nearly 54 percent from the floor, to lead Lamar State College Port Arthur to a dominating 107-48 win over Champions Christian College in the first day of the Texas-Louisiana Challenge on Friday at the Carl Parker Center in Port Arthur.

Palmquist, a transfer from McNeese State University, hit 7 of 13 from the field to lead four Seahawks in double-figures as LSCPA moved to 2-0 for the season.

Returning sophomore Kanntrell Burney scored 14, knocking down four 3-pointers, while Desmond McQuain also had 14 points. Myron Washington Jr., a 6-9 sophomore out of Monroe, Louisiana, added 10 points with three offensive rebounds.

The Seahawks took off from the start, leading the Tigers by double figures early on and never letting up. Top rebounder of the game was freshman Devon McCain, a Silsbee graduate, with nine boards, allon the defensive end of the floor. He also added two steals and three assists. Washington had a game-high three blocked shots.

The Seahawks return to tournament action on Saturday afternoon with a game against LSU-Eunice at 2 p.m. in the Parker Center. LSU-E topped Blinn College 74-59. Blinn will face Champions Christian at noon on Saturday.
