Jailan Ardoin had a nose for the ball Saturday night at the Carl Parker Center, sniffing out one of the best rebounding nights in Lamar State College Port Arthur history. His 18 boards is third best all-time at LSCPA, and led the Seahawks to a 111-50 non-conference win over Lone Star College-Kingwood.

Ardoin, a sophomore guard who graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School, scored 13 points with his 18 rebounds, posting an impressive double-double performance in the winning effort.

"Jailan made his mark in our record books and he did that by working hard all night," Head Coach Lance Madison said. "We had a rough weekend but these guys came back and showed they have a winning spirit. They faced adversity and found their way back to a winning performance tonight."

The Seahawks, 4-2 overall and 4-0 at home, dropped two games over this past weekend in the Collin County College Classic in Plano. "That's a tough way to learn things, but sometimes losing helps you understand yourself better than winning. These guys learned a lot over the weekend and they put that knowledge into action tonight."

Seahawks freshman forward James Kangethe led all scorers with 24 points, nearly completing a double-double with nine rebounds. He hit 12 of 18 from the floor. Justin Shorts, a sophomore guard from Phoenix, scored 16 points for the Hawks while Caleb Muller, a sophomore guard from Boca Raton, Florida, aded 15. Bentravin Phillips, a Lafayette, Louisiana sophomore guard, hit for 14 points while Jabi Alberto rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Redshirt freshman forward Jackson Thoele, finished with 17 rebounds, fourth-best in school history for a single game, to go with his nine points.
