GULF SHORES, Alabama — Lamar State College Port Arthur let two games get away in the first day of the Faulkner State Sun Chief Classic, falling to Wallace State Community College-Hanceville 6-3 and Southern Union College 10-5.

The Hawks, now 6-10 overall this season, will play three games Saturday in the second day of the tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama. LSCPA takes on Shelton State College at 1:30 p.m., Wallace State-Dothan at 3:45 and Coastal Alabama Community College at 6 p.m.

The Seahawks came on strong early but fell hard in extra innings against Wallace-Hanceville, the nation's No. 13 NJCAA softball program. After going up 3-0 in the third inning, the Hawks saw that lead disappear when the Tigers scored one in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth, tying the game and ultimately forcing extra innings.

The Seahawks couldn't cross a run in the top of the eighth but allowed three in the bottom on a three-run home run to end the game in a walk-off.

The Seahawks had seven hits in the game, led by Makasha Brown and Rebecca Delome, who each had two hits. Delome and Olivia Rivera each doubled.

Britni Hunt started on the mound, working seven innings, allowing 10 hits for three earned runs with three strikeouts and two walks. Jessica Saenz took the loss on the hill, allowing two earned runs on two hits with a walk.
