Hunt explodes at the plate, dominates on the hill in 14-1 win over Laredo

Freshman Britni Hunt exploded for seven runs batted in to lead Lamar State College Port Arthur past Laredo College 14-1 in the first game of an NJCAA Region 14 doubleheader at Martin Field on Friday, March 29.

Hunt finished the opening game of the doubleheader going 2 for 2 with a grand slam home run. Freshman Brooke Smith added three RBIs, going 1 for 2 with two runs scored and two walks, picking up a triple along the way.

Sophomore Olivia Rivera went 2 for 2 with a home run, while Taylor Frederick hit a double for the Seahawks.

LSCPA amassed 12 hits in the game with eight walks as Laredo found it impossible to get control on the mound.

Meanwhile, Hunt pitched all five innings of the run-ruled game, allowing just one unearned run on four hits with nine strikeouts and a walk.
