Versatile Rivera signs to play softball for Howard Payne

Seahawks softball player Olivia Rivera recently signed to play for Howard Payne University, an NCAA Division III school in Brownwood, Texas.

Lamar State College Port Arthur softball player Olivia Rivera has signed to play for Howard Payne University next season.

Rivera, a graduate of Cleveland High School, started out as a part-time starter as a freshman before becoming a fixture on the field during her sophomore season. She appeared in 43 games this past season, earning a .367 batting average with four home runs, 12 doubles, a triple and 29 runs batted in. She also had seven stolen bases and earned 17 walks. During her career at LSCPA, she owned a .335 batting average.

Showing her versatility, she came in to pitch in three games her sophomore season, starting once. She held a 3.00 earned run average for her efforts with five strikeouts over 9.1 innings of work.

Howard Payne University is an NCAA Division III school in Brownwood, Texas. The Yellow Jackets softball team reached the first round of the American Southwest Conference Tournament after posting a 17-22 season record and 13-14 conference mark.
