Seahawks can't stop Bossier Parish bats in 20-10 decision

Two home runs, including a grand slam, and three doubles weren't enough to push Lamar State College Port Arthur past Bossier Parish Community College as the Cavaliers lost 20-10 in a non-conference game at Martin Field on Sunday, March 1, 2020.

Sophomore Elicia Gonzales had a grand slam home run for the Seahawks while freshman Grace Coffelt had a homer of her own but the Seahawks were still outhit 18-7 in the five-inning affair.

Coffelt went 2 for 2 with a double, collecting two runs scored and four runs batted in, while Gonzales was 1 of 3 for LSCPA. Freshman Erica Riley was 2 for 3 with a double, while Alexa Garza came up with a two-run double for the Seahawks. Freshman Maleia Taylor also had a hit for LSCPA.

Britni Hunt took the loss in the circle, working three innings, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Vanessa Espitia finished the game, allowing 10 earned runs on 10 hits.

The Cavaliers collected 14 extra-base hits in the game, including seven home run shots.
