Erica Riley led the Seahawks at the plate in the second game of their doubleheader against Bossier Parish Community College, going 2 for 4 with a home run.

After falling behind 4-0 after three innings, Lamar State College Port Arthur finally found its offense, putting Bossier Parish on its heels as the Seahawks took an 8-4 lead after five innings. It wouldn't be enough though as BPCC scored four in the sixth and four more in the seventh for a 12-8 non-conference win at Martin Field on Sunday, March 1, 2020.

After BPCC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings, the Seahawks cut into that lead with two runs in the fourth, then crossed six runners in the fifth to take an 8-4 advantage.

The Seahawks opened the bottom of the fourth with a Britni Hunt single, Savannah Trahan double and Brooke Smith triple with Smith's three-bagger plating two runs to cut BPCC's lead in half at 4-2.

That offense continued into the fifth inning with Erica Riley hitting a home run to left field to tie the game at 4-4. Maleia Taylor came home on that long ball after a leadoff walk in the inning.

Grace Coffelt walked, Hunt singled and Smith walked to load the bases for the Seahawks. Elicia Gonzales walked for an RBI then Celeste Salazar singled to score two for a 7-4 LSCPA lead. A single by Makasha Brown made it 8-4.

The Seahawks' pitching struggled late, though, allowing four runs in both the sixth and seventh innings as the Cavaliers escaped with the 12-8 win.

Riley finished 2 of 4 at the plate, while Smith was 2 of 3. Both had two RBIs. Hunt also went 2 for 4.

Miranda Pollock worked 5.1 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Alexa Garza finished the final 1.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

The Seahawks continue their homestand with a doubleheader on Friday, March 6, against Angelina College starting at 1 p.m. After a week off, LSCPA returns to Martin Field on Friday, March 13, to start NJCAA Region 14 play with a doubleheader against Blinn College.
